The well-versed train driver
A driver announcement made on this morning's 0720 ex-Frankston train to explain a delay between Glenhuntly and Caulfield:

Before we may proceed?
Calembeena - the word that I substituted was proceed - the driver used some other term like 'continue' or 'go' - can't remember.
But 'before we may proceed' is certainly better than either.
